What is "The Walk"?

The walk is an initiative that hopes to promote, revive, and progress cinema in the Arab World. In order to reach this aim, we felt the need to involve the greater public in “The Walk”. After all, Cinema is for everyone.

Every two years, a march takes place in a different city to bring awareness to the public about the filmmaking industry, and their right to have a cinema that represents them. The Walk is usually attended by celebrities, media professionals from across the globe who support the purpose of “The Walk”.


What is the purpose of "The Walk"?

To create awareness about cinema in Jordan through engaging the Jordanian youth in expressing themselves and their perceptions of their societies. To generate funds that will enable No budget films to sponsor initiatives of directors in their first trial of film making To establish a solid institute for the progression of the film industry in Jordan that will extend to the region. To educate the current and coming generations on our cultural capacities.


Why we chose to Walk?

A symbolic approach…

A Walk is always forward, and we aim to create an awareness for the public to move forward and progress one of the most important cultural dimensions of any civilization which is the art of film making and expression.

Jordan has lacked consistency in its progression towards creating a solid basis for its cinema industry, this will impact the historical development of that industry, choosing to walk signifies building a consistency and continuity towards creating a Jordanian cinema industry.

We are not the sole operators on this initiative; others well established institutes are working towards the progressing of the cinema industry in Jordan. We hope to work all together to achieve maximum output.


Partnerships

The walk is a project that completely relies on partnerships from the private and public sector, as well as individuals or groups from independent organizations and foundations. We all work together to enhance the initiative of the walk.

At NBF we’re always dependant on such partnerships since we start every project with zero budgeting.


Financers

The Walk always seeks Financers who are enthusiastic and supportive of our initiative and purpose. The financer’s role is to finance the winners of the First Film Production Contest (FFPC) entirely, with their production’s budget.

Financers can be International and National Organizations, Foundations or even individuals who are supportive of the cultural move in the Middle East and Jordan
